Prehistory in the Cliffs
If you've already watched the "Overstrand Our Village" DVD, you'll have seen geologist Martin Warren talking about the structure of the cliffs on which the village stands. In case you have't seen it, we're showing that short section on this page.
Martin, formerly curator at Cromer Museum and then Collections and Information Officer for the Norfolk Museums and Archaeology Service, has considerable knowledge about the north Norfolk coast. He has contributed a Field Guide to NE Norfolk to the Web. On the site you'll find two information sheets which can be printed out; you'll find these useful if you're walking in the area.
If you're able to visit, then the geology gallery at Cromer Museum will be of interest as part of your visit. You can check the web site for details of the special walks that are held in the summer; Martin generally offers two or three along the beach to look at the cliffs, during the summer months.
